Look your best for School Picture Day! All students will be photographed for the yearbook. Picture forms were sent home with your student. Students will be photographed on the following days:

Thursday, September 24th - Grades 3, 4, 5
Friday, September 25th - Preschool, TK, Kindergarten and Grades 1, 2

Dismissal Procedures

To ensure safety for our students, we are implementing new dismissal procedures. Students who are picked up in the loop will wait alongside the fence nearest to the solar panels. Students who walk or whose parents meet them face to face will wait in the grassy area in front of the school. Parents, please wait in the designated parent areas for your student, and remember to keep the walkways clear for the safety of our students. Thanks for your support!

Kindergarten Roundup

We have scheduled two days to meet incoming kinder students and get to know their academic and social strengths. The purpose of these screenings is to get a head start on the school year. Interacting with students prior to the first day of instruction will allow teachers the opportunity to provide a better learning environment for your student. It is very important that your child attend the Kindergarten Roundup days/times listed below according to your child's last name.

Monday, August 3rd
A-G 8 am - 10 am
H-O 10 am - 12 pm

Tuesday, August 4th
P-V 8 am - 10 am
W-Z 10 am - 12 pm

If you cannot make your child's scheduled time, please feel free to attend a time that is more convenient for you. Thank you for your time and support. We look forward to meeting your child and having a successful kindergarten year!

Elimination of Bus Fees and Increases to Home-To-School Busing

On April 7, 2015 the Hemet Unified School District Board of Education approved a proposal to eliminate transportation bus fees and reduce the no transportation area for all school levels by one half mile. These approved measures will result in an increase in home-to-school bus services to take effect July 1, 2015.

Tahquitz High School Summit

Tahquitz High School is having a K-12 Parent Student Summit on Saturday, April 11, 2015, from 8 am - 12 pm. It will be held in the THS Theater and is limited to the first 200 people. There is a FREE gift for the first 100 families who attend. The focus of the summit will be how to create a home environment that is positively focused around a family mission statement, creating legacy of expectations academically and behavioral excellence, and Cyber bullying: Protecting our kids in the virtual world!

Students in grades 3-5 will begin SBAC/CAASPP testing on Monday, April 13th. Students will have the opportunity to show what they have learned this year. The test involves a variety of different types of questions including multiple choice, open ended responses that will be typed in, rearranging sentences to place them in the correct order, and listening to audio recordings to disseminate information. They will also be required to complete tasks in both language arts and math based on classroom activities that have been taught to them. Attached is the anticipated parent letter you will receive. Please encourage your student to try their best on all of these tests, to get a good night's rest, and eat a healthy breakfast.

Talent Show Auditions

Cawston's 11th Annual Talent Show is right around the corner! Auditions will be on Thursday, February 26th in the MPR. Students who wish to tryout need to bring a completed and signed permission slip to the MPR. Students may get a permission slip from their teacher. We can't wait to see ALL of our Comet talent!!

Congratulations to Mr. Watland & Mrs. Naasz

A BIG congratulations to Mr. Watland for being named Cawston's Teacher of the Year for the 2014-2015 school year. Not only is he an excellent teacher, but he is heavily involved within our school. He is both our Spelling Bee and Science Fair coordinator.

Likewise, a BIG congratulations to Mrs. Naasz as being named as Cawston's Classified Employee of the Year. Mrs. Naasz has touched so many student's lives as an instructional aide.
