Welcome to Mrs. Silos' 4th grade class website, and to a new school year!   Since you are getting to know me, I wrote a little something about myself.

I work closely with my students and their families, and so I believe that it is important to get to know each other so we can work together better.

This is my twenty-first  year of teaching but was a student teacher and a substitute teacher in Temecula prior to that.  I first taught for a year at Fruitvale Elementary, and then I taught at Winchester Elementary for three years.  Teaching at Cawston has been a real joy because I love the students, the families and the staff I work with.

I have three wonderful children of my own.  My eldest child is a professional songwriter and lives in Encino.   My second child is happily married and lives in Tustin.  My youngest graduated from the University of California Santa Cruz and would like to be a teacher someday!  My husband retired from the US Navy a few years ago and has transitioned well into civilian life.

I was a choreographer for stage productions for many years, but I have always had an inclination to teach.  I completed my Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Psychology from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines.  I migrated to the US many years ago, "worked" as a stay-home mom, and then earned my Cross-Cultural (CLAD) teaching credential from the California State University San Bernardino and Cal State San Marcos in 1999.  I completed my master's degree in Teaching and Learning from National University.  I enjoy being part of a dedicated and hard-working staff, and help out with CCTV (Cawston Comet TV) and  serve as the director of the Talent Show Committee.

In my spare time I like to travel, dance, hike and edit videos.  Our family loves to travel and entertain friends and family at home. I have a busy and fulfilled life!!
